المصدر الرسمي: The Democrats: Gender equality (PDF)Religion and state
Ensuring freedom of choice in marriage and divorce and reducing the power of the rabbinical courts.
- •We will cancel any expansion of the rabbinical courts' powers and stop the trend that deepens the subordination of citizens' lives to a religious system that is not egalitarian.
- •We will establish a full civil track for marriage and divorce, allowing every citizen to choose how to marry and how to divorce, without religious coercion and regardless of religion, belief, gender or conscience.
- •Those who choose the religious track will be able to continue doing so, but the state has no right to impose one track on all its citizens.
Gender Equality & Women's Rights
Committing to a full "zipper" system in the Democrats' Knesset list.
- •The Democrats are committed to equal representation of women and men on the Knesset list, in a zipper system, a woman and a man alternately, or a man and a woman alternately, throughout the list.
Entrenching the right to equality in a Basic Law and setting a duty of representation of at least 40% women in decision-making centers.
- •Working for explicit entrenchment of the right to equality in a Basic Law, including gender equality, as an integral part of Israel's democratic regime.
- •Setting a duty of women's representation in the Knesset, under which parties that do not meet the target of 40% women will have part of their public funding deducted.
- •In addition, setting by law a duty to appoint 40% women as director-generals and in senior positions in the civil service and state institutions.
Establishing a national authority to combat violence against women.
- •We will establish an independent authority to combat violence against women, which will operate in coordination among all government ministries, enforcement authorities, the welfare system, the education system and local authorities.
- •The authority will consolidate policy, budgets, data collection, prevention, protection, enforcement and rehabilitation.
- •We will work to broaden the definition of violence to include economic, psychological, sexual and digital violence, to strengthen protection for women and their children and to deploy technological, therapeutic and economic tools that will save lives.
Advancing equality in the labor market and in parental responsibility: extending maternity leave, paternity leave, early-childhood education.
- •We will extend the paid maternity and parenting period and set a dedicated, non-transferable parenting period for the second parent, to encourage an equal division of parental responsibility from the very start.
- •At the same time, we will rehabilitate the early-childhood education system, expand subsidized options and ensure quality, accessible education frameworks.
