Privacy Policy
This website ("the Site") is run by Dana Melamed ("we"), an independent, non-partisan project aiming to make factual information about the 2026 Knesset elections accessible. This policy explains what data the Site collects while you browse it, why, and what rights you have over it.
What data is collected
The Site does not require registration, an account, a name, an email address, or any other identifying detail to browse it or use any of its content and tools (including comparing parties, following issues, and bookmarking items). While browsing, a limited amount of technical/statistical information is collected, as detailed below — and only after you've accepted the consent bar shown on your first visit to the Site.
The analytics tools we use
We use two external tools, and only these — no advertising cookies, no Google Analytics, and no advertising trackers of any kind:
Vercel Web Analytics
Measures page views at an aggregate, statistical level only (popular pages, visitor countries, and similar) — cookieless, with no way to link separate visits by the same visitor. Run by Vercel Inc., the company hosting the Site, and as such may process data on servers in the United States.
PostHog
Measures which actions actually help visitors on the Site (for example, which filters are used on the parties list, whether a party comparison was completed, clicks on source links) so we can improve the Site accordingly. Deliberately configured at the minimum footprint possible: no cookies (data is kept only in this browser's local storage, never sent to any other site, and persists until you clear this browser's site data — so, unlike a session that resets when you close the tab, we can now recognize a repeat visit from the same browser, but never in a way that identifies you personally), no session recording, no automatic capture of every click on the page (only the specific events we've chosen to measure), and it respects the browser's "Do Not Track" setting. Data is processed on PostHog's servers in the European Union.
Your IP address is technically transmitted to these two tools (as with any request to any website) in order to compute aggregate statistics such as visitor country, but it is not stored by us or linked by us to any personal identity.
One exception: "Explain simply (AI)"
An optional button on bill pages ("Explain simply") sends only the official bill text (not any of your personal information) to a Google language model (Gemini) to produce a plain-language explanation, and only when you explicitly click it. Every such explanation is clearly labeled as AI-generated content. This is the opposite of the analytics tools above — it does not track you and does not load automatically; it only runs when you actively trigger it.
What this is used for
The statistical information above is used solely to understand which parts of the Site are useful and to improve them — for example, if a search feature frequently returns no results, that's a signal it needs improving. We do not sell, rent, or share information for advertising purposes, and we do not build a personal profile of any visitor.
Who receives this information
The only two parties that process Site usage data on our behalf are Vercel Inc. (hosting the Site and measuring page views) and PostHog (measuring interactions). We do not pass information to any other third party, and certainly not to any party, candidate, or political actor.
Retention
Statistical information is retained by the providers above only for as long as needed for the improvement purpose described, per each tool's own built-in retention settings — not indefinitely.
Consent
The analytics tools above only load after you click "Accept" on the consent card shown on your first visit to the Site. If you choose "No analytics," the Site behaves exactly the same — it simply doesn't collect usage data. You can change your choice at any time:
Your rights
Because the statistical information collected does not identify you personally (see "What data is collected" above), we generally have no way to locate a record tied to your specific visit. That said, under Israel's Protection of Privacy Law, 5741-1981 (as amended by Amendment 13), you may contact us with any question about how we process information, request clarification or correction, and request that no further information be collected about you (by choosing "No analytics" / resetting your consent as described above).
