Recruitment and service

Security and equality in service

  • •We will ensure that the entry of additional populations under the stretcher takes place under the Joint Service Order and in a manner that does not exclude women from combat roles or from combat-support roles. We will work to advance the integration of women into all roles in the IDF and the defense establishment, according to qualifications and subject to professional and operational requirements for each role, in a measurable way for men and women alike and in accordance with the Joint Service Order. We will carry out regular enforcement that will prevent the exclusion of serving women.
  • •We will advance the appointment of women to senior positions in the defense establishment on the basis of their qualifications and ensure the partnership of women in discussions and in the centers of political and security decision-making.

Education

Education

  • •The education system must ensure a protected environment and equal opportunity for success and development for girls and boys alike.
  • •We will advance in the education system programs for detecting, treating and preventing domestic violence and sexual offenses, in order to create a safe environment for boys and girls within schools.
  • •We will preserve existing programs that operate successfully to encourage STEM studies among girls and expand them to additional populations, with emphasis on expanding them in the social and geographic periphery, in order to encourage girls and young women to enter technological professions. We will encourage integration and exposure of girls and young women to various sports through physical education curricula and joint programs with local authorities.

Health

Health

  • •Priorities are dictated to a large extent by the health system's regulations; in Yashar! we will ensure that women's health, throughout the life cycle, receives the responses it needs - from research focused on women and their health needs to adapting the relevant medical services. As part of this we will advance programs for detecting and early diagnosis of diseases among women, adolescence and menopause, in both physical and mental health, including eating disorders. We will create training and reporting mechanisms for medical staff to detect domestic violence and sexual offenses among patients.

Gender Equality & Women's Rights

Yashar! for Women and Gender Equality

  • •The Yashar! party believes that a Jewish and democratic state is one that treats women and men fairly and equally, in all areas of life, and is committed to an equal partnership of women and men, who together shape the future of the state and make it safer and stronger.
  • •As part of our commitment to equal partnership, Yashar!'s Knesset slate is egalitarian - 50% women, 50% men.
  • •Yashar! looks ahead and sees an Israel in which every woman lives in security, freedom and full equality of opportunity - at home, at work, in the public service and in the public space. A state in which women are full partners in all decision-making centers - security, economic and social - and in which a man and a woman together bear both duties and rights.

Gender equality is a basic value

  • •Including the security, equality and partnership of women in Israel and part of its social resilience

Full partnership

  • •Equality will be expressed in full partnership of women in the centers of power and influence: in security, government, the economy and society and in all areas of life

Personal security and fighting sexual and gender-based violence

  • •We will fight uncompromisingly against violence against women, men and all populations. We will establish a national headquarters to lead the fight against violence against women, which will concentrate the efforts and resources for dealing with the phenomenon. The headquarters will connect the government treatment bodies, the Israel Police and the justice system and will ensure integrated and holistic responses to the fight against the phenomenon.
  • •We will increase resources for enforcement efforts and for programs to detect, treat and prevent domestic violence and sexual violence, advance the legislative amendments needed to fight economic and psychological violence, step up enforcement of the law prohibiting the consumption of prostitution, advance measures to prevent sexual exploitation in the digital arena as well, and lead a systemic treatment of sexual offenses that occur in frameworks of spiritual authority and closed communities, alongside providing the unique response required for the rehabilitation and treatment of these victims.
  • •We will require appropriate training for enforcement staff and anchor procedures for sensitive and tailored treatment of complainants throughout the entire process - from Room 4 in hospitals through to the trial stage. We will expand the responses given to victims of sexual violence and domestic violence both through innovative means and through existing ones, including shelters, emergency hotlines and support systems, and we will strive to sign relevant international conventions.
  • •We will toughen the punishment for preventing women's free access to the public space, including on public transportation, in nature reserves and national parks, and at events and institutions funded by the state, as well as for property damage related to this, and we will allocate the resources needed for enforcement of these offenses.

Employment and economy

  • •We will work to reduce pay gaps between women and men in the labor market, accompany and hold professional training for women returning to the labor market after a career break and maternity leave. We will advance quality teaching for early childhood (ages 0-3), under the responsibility of the Ministry of Education, and expand the subsidy for serving and working parents, which will enable more women to participate in quality employment. On this, see the expansion in the Yashar! plan for state and excellent education.
  • •We will advance regulated days of leave for fathers during the period of birth and parenthood (maternity leave), in parallel to the existing leave for mothers and without harming the option of splitting the maternity leave between partners.
  • •We will lead the legislative amendments needed for employment protection of the spouses of reserve-duty soldiers (including in a situation of divorce),
  • •Decision-making processes must weigh considerations relating to working parents in general and working mothers in particular; to do this we will ensure that professional women are included in decision-making in emergencies and in routine, in particular regarding functional continuity and the operation of educational institutions.
  • •We will step up enforcement of the mechanisms ensuring appropriate representation of women on the boards of statutory corporations and local authority corporations, and work to increase the number of women in senior positions in the public service.

Governance and rights

  • •We will strengthen the National Authority for the Advancement of the Status of Women, which will lead inter-ministerial activity for gender equality and increased government coordination, and ensure that all government bodies report regularly on their activity. We will work to advance women into public leadership roles in local, regional and national government.
  • •We will work to prevent segregation in academia that in practice harms the quality of teaching, the scope of degrees or the employment opportunities of female students, lecturers and researchers, and ensure that any program to make academic studies accessible to various populations will not harm women's dignity, rights or professional advancement prospects.
  • •We will regulate rules for recognizing and handling bereaved unmarried female partners, in order to reduce bureaucratic barriers and provide the response they need.
  • •We will ensure appropriate representation of women in significant mechanisms in religious services, including religious councils and rabbinical electoral assemblies, advance effective enforcement and prevention mechanisms to deal with agunot and get-refusal, and work to restore the status quo that was violated during the current government regarding the powers of the rabbinical courts.
