Protecting LGBT students and teachers in the education system
- •We will promote the publication of a Director-General's circular that anchors the rights of LGBT students and teachers, including appropriate training for educational staff, arranging systemic responses to the challenges faced by LGBT people in the education system, a ban on conversion therapy within the education system, and protection of LGBT teachers in the workplace. In addition, we will encourage outreach and awareness-raising activities in the education system and increase the budgets of the education regulation on tolerance so that every male and female student in state education has access to education for tolerance in schools, and we will allocate the necessary budgets for this.
Society and welfare
Social services
- •We will anchor stable budgeting for tailored, life-saving services for members of the community – in education, health, welfare and all relevant areas of life, in the central government and in local authorities in the center and the periphery. Within this, we will make sure that the resources needed are allocated for training professional teams to deal with unique issues related to the LGBT community, that the necessary adaptations are made for specific groups within the community, and that the necessary steps are taken to create a safe, inclusive and tolerant environment in the various public systems – all as part of an integral, continuous and stable policy and not dependent on shifting political will.
Gender Equality & Women's Rights
Yashar! for the LGBTQ+ Community
- •The Yashar! party advocates the right of every person to choose their way of life and to have equal rights as a citizen of the state, regardless of or dependent on their sexual orientation or gender identity. We will ensure that members of the LGBT community are safe in the public space, enjoy equal rights under the law and receive all the social services to which every citizen is entitled by law.
Getting on the Straight Path!
- •The Yashar! party looks to the future and sees a country in which no citizen has to hide their sexual and gender identity or fears manifestations of violence, hatred or incitement. The Declaration of Independence guarantees equal rights to all the state's citizens without distinction of religion, race and sex – and in that spirit, Yashar! advocates equal rights also without distinction of sexual orientation and gender identity.
- •Yashar! is committed to promoting equal rights for members of the LGBT community and has signed the 'Sagi Equality Laws', and will act to restore the personal security of members of the LGBT community, to end the existing discrimination in legislation, and to provide the necessary government responses in education, health, welfare and all areas of life.
Personal security and fighting hatred and incitement
- •We will work to improve the personal security of members of the community by allocating the resources needed for enforcement and direct work with the police and local authorities. We will promote legislation to prevent incitement on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity and recognition of victims of hate acts, which will provide the necessary response to those who were harmed.
Prohibition of discrimination
- •We will promote legislation that will add sexual orientation and gender identity across the board to all the existing prohibitions on discrimination in law, and work to prevent discrimination against LGBT people in the sale and rental of apartments, so that no one is rejected by a landlord, seller or broker because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Equality in partnership, parenthood and family
- •We will work to institutionalize civil partnership in Israel and to correct the existing discrimination in laws related to partnership, parenthood and family. As part of this, we will promote a track for registering a civil partnership that will be available to every couple, including same-sex couples, thereby allowing freedom of choice in institutionalizing the partnership.
- •We will amend the existing legislation to equalize same-sex couples and heterosexual couples with regard to registering parenthood and streamline the legal procedures related to it, and we will also make sure that same-sex couples are included in the legislation of the continuity law. We will promote a response to the unique needs of same-sex couples, in particular joint pregnancy and granting citizenship to babies born through surrogacy abroad.
- •We will work to establish an inter-ministerial team that will examine gaps in the economic rights of LGBT couples and families compared with the rest of the population, with emphasis on taxation, inheritance and National Insurance. As part of this, the team will identify the legislative amendments needed to equalize rights and will also promote the necessary corrections in the existing bureaucracy in order to exercise the rights and make them accessible.
Fighting 'conversion' therapy
- •We will lead legislation aimed at banning conversion therapy, out of recognition that these practices have been shown to be dangerous and linked to severe psychological harm among LGBT youth and young adults. In parallel, we will promote the establishment of an inter-ministerial team that will formulate a government plan to fight conversion therapy. As part of this, we will strengthen enforcement mechanisms against professionals engaged in conversion therapy, develop treatment and rehabilitation responses for victims, work to increase public awareness of the harms of the phenomenon, examine government funding mechanisms that support conversion therapy, and create a knowledge center and data collection on the scope of the phenomenon and its implications.
